UFC 333 delivered a historic night at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Alexander Volkanovski retained the featherweight title with a knockout of Movsar Evloev, Petr Yan won his trilogy with Merab Dvalishvili and three unbeaten records were broken on the same card.

Main event: Volkanovski ends Evloev's unbeaten run

Volkanovski stopped Evloev by KO/TKO with six seconds left in the second round (4:54). It was the first loss of the Russian's career, who came in at 20-0. With this win, the Australian passes José Aldo for the most wins in featherweight title fights.

Co-main: Yan closes the trilogy

Petr Yan beat Merab Dvalishvili again by unanimous decision after five rounds, retained the bantamweight belt and takes the series 2-1.

All the results

  • Alexander Volkanovski def. Movsar Evloev by KO/TKO (round 2, 4:54).

Three fewer unbeaten records

Evloev (20-0), Nurullo Aliev (12-0) and Asaf Chopurov (11-0) suffered the first losses of their careers. Only Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev left Abu Dhabi with his perfect record intact, now 11-0.

What about the '-ev curse'?

Not this time. Fighters with surnames ending in '-ev' won 2 of their 5 fights (Yakhyaev and Vagaev) and lost 3 (Evloev, Kuniev and Aliev). Even so, their all-time record in Abu Dhabi remains overwhelming: 28 wins, 6 losses and 1 no contest.

How did the community do?

The La Jaula Props community got 8 of the 11 fights that received votes right. The big miss was the co-main event: every vote went to Dvalishvili. You can see the fight-by-fight breakdown in the results section.

Next stop is UFC 334 on November 14 at Madison Square Garden, with Gane vs. Hokit and Harrison vs. Nunes. Voting is already open.
